International Environmental Water Allocation Conference, February 23-26, 2009

The International Environmental Water Allocation conference will be held from Monday, 23rd to Thursday, 26th February 2009 at the historical Feather Market Convention Centre in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The conference will provide a platform to share knowledge and skills, impart advice and inform each other on how to promote the sustainable use of rivers, wetlands, estuaries and groundwater.

THEME
Promoting the sustainable use of rivers, wetlands, estuaries and groundwater

OBJECTIVES
- Identifying and critiquing global trends in the implementation of environmental water allocations:
• policy and legislation
• integrating ecosystem protection with socio–economic development;
• defining and involving stakeholders
• decision making for sustainable use
• operational management of water allocations
- Sharing knowledge and skills
