The Editors of Hydrological Sciences have agreed to produce a Special Issue entitled “Hydrological science for environmental flows”

The aim is to publish the latest hydrological science that underpins our understanding of the environmental flows. The Special Issue of Hydrological Sciences Journal would include around 20 papers within subject areas likely to include:

  • Ecologically-relevant indices of hydrological regimes
  • Species and community water requirements
  • Linking water quality and quantity aspects of environmental flows
  • Freshwater requirements of wetlands, estuaries and the coastal zone
  • Requirements of groundwater dependent ecosystems
  • Flows, morphology and river hydraulics
  • Setting environmental standards (such as abstraction limits or require dam releases)
  • Environmental flows and climate change
  • Economic implications of environmental flow setting
  • The role of environmental flows in IWRM
  • Legal aspects of environmental flows

If you are interested in publishing a paper in this Special Issue, please contact the guest editor Professor Mike Acreman (man@ceh.ac.uk)
